Hello! I'm Angela :) Currently, I work as a PhD research fellow in the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), based in the beautiful city of Bergen, Norway.

My main current research topic is applying reinforcement learning methods to repair software models (read more about it here). I received a double master's degree in Computer Engineering and IT management (award for best academic record) from the Universidad de Extremadura (UNEX) (Caceres, Spain) in 2017 and the bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from the same institution in 2015.

So far, my professional experience is diverse: a mix of technical and academic jobs. In the past, I have worked as a full stack web developer, researcher and teaching assistant at master's level. I love to face challenges and I put passion in everything I do.

Projects I'm proud of

Here you can find some of the most interesting projects I have developed.

• Personalized and Automatic Repair of MOdels using REinforcement Learning (present): PhD thesis project developed in the Department of Software Engineering, Sensor Networks and Engineering Computing in the HVL. On-going project to repair broken software models using reinforcment learning methods. The project is built in Java and, at the moment, it includes a Q-Learning and Transfer Learning implementation. • Reinforcement Learner Through Observation (2018): Hackathon project developed in the MIT event: Media Lab Berlin - Signal and noise, as part of the Machine learning for creative AI track. The project consisted on a Deep Q Learning algorithm that learnt how to play Pong, but it only learnt when a user is in front of the computer where it is executed. For this, we used a face detector to conditionate the algorithm's learning. The project is built in Python. You can find it in this GitHub repository.
• A Visual Framework for Transparent and Accessible Machine Learning (2018): Research project consisting on the development of a visual interface for enhancing Machine Learning's accessibility and transparency, exploring the possibilities of XAI (Explanaible Artificial Intelligence). The project was built using Django and Scikit. You can get more information about the project in this workshop paper and this demo link.
• Situational Context: Distributed management of contextual information (2017): Master's Thesis developed at the Social and Pervasive Innovation Lab (SPILAB) in the UNEX. Project focused on the description of a theoretical framework for building Internet of Things systems using smartphones, taking into account psychological theories about human-computer interaction and communication to create human-centric environments. • Smart System for Behaviour Detection (2015): Bachelor's thesis developed at Quercus Software Engineering Group in the UNEX. Project focused on identifying different body poses and sudden falls by using neural networks and 3D cameras, built with Java. Things I'm good at

Here I detail my skills and the value I can offer as a worker. If you prefer to see a more traditional professional experience section, please, check my LinkedIn profile.

Technical Skills

• Experienced in Java and Python (Django, Ruby on Rails), I have also worked with JS (jQuery, AngularJS), C++, HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL (PostgreSQL), but I'm not afraid to learn new ones if I need to :)
• Used to work with agile methodologies, especially SCRUM.
• I like to use Git as version control system. Some project management tools I use: Trello, Wiki, Jira...
• Some interesting technologies I have worked with: machine learning (neural networks, supervised learning, reinforcement learning) and computer vision (OpenCV, 3D cameras).
• My favourite IDEs are Eclipse and Sublime.
• As a web developer I have worked both in front and back-end. I have experience developing with Wordpress.
• Familiar with Android development.

Other Skills

• Regarding languages, I'm a native Spanish speaker and I have a high level of English. I can present my work in both languages, spoken and written, including technical and academic texts.
• I'm used to speak in public in both languages and I consider myself a good communicator. I have given lectures at master level and I have presented my work in international venues.
• I'm a creative and curious person, with good lateral thinking. This pushes me to discover original solutions to the problems I face and to keep on learning new things.
• I'm familiar with Photoshop and other graphical edition tools.
• I love being part of a team. I flourish when working together with other people. One of my priorities in a work environment is to be surrounded by nice and communicative people.
• I have a great sense of humour :)

A little more about me

• One of my hobbies is studying languages, at the moment: Norwegian and Japanese.
• I love exercising! Right now I'm into calisthenics and inline skating.
• Drawing is one of my passions, you can see my portfolio here.
• When I want to unwind I play videogames. I'm a Pokémon champion (GAME tournament, Cáceres 2014) and I won a League of Legends tournament together with my friends (Escuela Politécnica, Cáceres 2015).
• If I hadn't studied Software Engineering, I would have loved to study Philosophy, Psychology or Fine Arts.
